Green Day at The Hood Paris

Urban Jungle Bloggers - Green Day at The Hood Paris

A few weeks ago we co-hosted a GREEN DAY with The Hood in Paris. The idea of this event was to put focus on a greener life – indoors as well as outdoors. We teamed up with the creatived crowd of The Hood who are focused not only on good and yummy food and coffee, but also on driving community projects and supporting small and up and coming artists. The venue was their cool café in Paris’ 11th arrondissement and the dominating color for that day was obvious: green!Urban Jungle Bloggers - Green Day at The Hood ParisOn a warm Sunday afternoon we invited people to join us for the GREEN DAY in Paris. To make the setting really green we all worked together with our friends from the Parisian plant concept store Mama Petula. They added beautiful and lush plants to the café which will remain there. Additionally the Mama Petula team set up a vending place so people could get right on spot a new houseplant. Truth be told, we couldn’t resist ourselves and went back home with a baby banana palm and an Alocasia Stingray. Urban Jungle Bloggers - Green Day at The Hood Paris

We invited people to not only come and listen to us, but to actively participate. One idea was a plant swap. We set up a plant swap bar cart where every guest could bring cuttings, offshoots or baby plants and exchange with others. Additionally we wanted to connect with like minded people and maybe set the grounds for new upcoming projects – with The Hood and the entire neighborhood in Paris. Think of making the streets more green, making businesses more sustainable and green. The Hood is a great example to see how little steps can actually take the right decisison in making a business more sustainable and thus more green.

To kick off the Green Day we presented the Urban Jungle Bloggers community and our Urban Jungle book (which was on sale there too). We talked about the positive effect of plants in interiors – and public spaces like cafés. Then Pearlyn, one of the owners of The Hood, took over and introduced the guests to the café and their sustainability projects as well as ideas for new green projects. Afterwards all guests chatted and exchanged ideas as well as discussed potential projects. Not to mention that the plant swap was very popular. Yet again, we contributed and took a few cuttings back home too.

The Hood also took care of our happy tummies. Green food and botanical drinks were available – one of our favorite is the Pandan cake. It is a regular staple in The Hood so if you haven’t tasted it yet, go and taste it next time you are in Paris! Yummy! And oh so green!

To round up the offer during the event, the local artist named Pamela Tamby created little hand-painted plant pots which were available for sale too – a perfect addition for the little cuttings from the plant swap.
